Danish Atlantic Youth Seminar
The Danish ATA is proud to announce the 25th annual Danish Atlantic Youth Seminar (DAYS) which will be held on July 5-11 at Aalborg Airbase in the Northern part of Denmark.
DAYS is an event gathering students, experts and practitioners from more than twenty different countries to a week long seminar on security politics, conflict management, networking and socialization.
Through lectures, workshops, panel debates and social activities the seminar will give the participants a unique opportunity to enlarge their intellectual and cultural horizon.

GLOBSEC Bratislava Security Conference

Summer School of the University of Economics in Bratislava
The University of Economics in Bratislava, the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the University of Economics - Prague would be delighted to welcome foreign students on an unique joint Summer School designed for students from all over the world, interested in the topic, who would like to learn more about the region of Central Europe and its transition process after 1989 from totalitarian regime with planned economy to democracy with a free market.
The primary aim of the Summer School is to provide the participants, in a relatively short period of two weeks, with knowledge of the most interesting and applicable lessons learned by Slovakia and other Central European countries during the transition process from totalitarianism to democracy after 1989. Information that cannot be found in textbooks, knowledge and stories, which can only be handed over by experts who remember... Central Europe possesses the unique potential for transferring the authentic experience of the transition process from totalitarian regimes with planned economies towards to democracy with a free market. This recent experience assures the very practical know-how of dealing with very rapid political and economic development along with its pitfalls. The organizer perceives the entire Central European region as a natural laboratory which is eager to share its experience with interested students and researchers from abroad. The Summer School has the capacity to provide the participants with a very practical asset for further study and scientific research.

14th YATA General Assembly, Kiev, Ukraine, October 7-9 2009
The 14th YATA General Assembly took place in Kiev, Ukraine from the 7th to the 9th of October 2009, under the general theme “60 Years of NATO and looking ahead.” The General Assembly usually represents the early occasion to review the work and activities performed in the past year, to elaborate the way forward and discuss some of the most challenging issues for the Atlantic Community. This year General assembly was organized with the gracious support of the Atlantic Council of Ukraine, the Atlantic Treaty Association, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the NATO-Ukraine Civil League and the Naumann Stiftung Foundation.

The Rīga Conference 2009, October 23-24, 2009
From October 23 to October 24, 2009 in the Mazā Ģilde (the Small Guild) the Riga Conference 2009 entitled “Economic Recovery in a Changing Security Environment: Transatlantic Agenda 2010” will take place. For the fourth time already Riga will gather heads of states, the world’s leading academicians, politicians, representatives from non-governmental organizations, commentators and journalists to continue with the high level international discussions on foreign and security policy issues.

14th Portuguese Atlantic Youth Seminar
The Portuguese Atlantic Committee and the Portuguese Atlantic Youth Association are organizing the 14th Portuguese Atlantic Youth Seminar.This year the Seminar will be held at Alfeite Naval Academy, near Lisbon, from the 1st (arrival) to the 8th of August (departure).The lectures and educational activities of this seminar will discuss the drafting of NAT0’s new strategic concept. For this purpose, Portuguese and foreign researchers and policy-makers will be invited to have fruitful discussions with the participants. Furthermore, a set of social activities will be arranged in order to allow everyone to have a pleasant stay in Portugal.

Summer School in Bratislava
Central European Studies: Transformation Process.
August 2 - 17, 2009
The Euro-Atlantic Center is co-organizing with the University of Economics of Bratislava, the University of Vienna and the University of Prague a two weeks long Summer School on "Political and Economic Transformation of Central Europe after 1989: Successes and pitfalls". The program of the Summer School is a combination of interactive lessons, case studies and excursions to various locations in Slovakia and other Central European states to provide a comprehensive and authentic “Slovak Story” associated with the particular topic of study and to compare this story with the experience of other Central European states.

Crisis Management Simulation
From the 12th to the 18th of July, 15 YATA members will participate to the fourth international Crisis Management simulation organized by the Queen’s Centre for International Studies and Mannheim University in Kingston, Canada. The scenario for the simulation will be the current state of affairs in Afghanistan. This simulation will make use of few standardized procedures – allowing for a natural and unobstructed process in which participants will analyze the diplomatic, military and economic aspects of the situation in Afghanistan.

NATO in 2020: What role will the Alliance have?
Three hundred young people of fifty-seven nationalities will celebrate the 60th anniversary of NATO and contemplate the Alliance's future during a three day Youth Summit organized in Strasbourg from the 1st to the 4th of April.
The Youth Atlantic Treaty Association will participate to the event with a consistent delegation of international students and young professionals. The participants have been selected among more than 200 candidates.

The Danish Atlantic Youth Seminar 2009
Seminar on diplomacy and crisis management in the backyard of Europe. From the 6 to 12 of July the Danish chapter of the Atlantic Treaty Association has organized the 24th annual Danish Atlantic Youth Seminar - DAYS. The Seminar will be held at the Airbase of Aalborg.
The guest list includes international students representing over twenty different nationalities as well as renowned scholars, all at the top of their fields. Through academic and social exercises the seminar will give young students from across the globe a unique opportunity to enlarge their intellectual and cultural horizon.

YATA General Assembly
From the 8th to the 12th of November, the 13th General Assembly of the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association has taken place in Berlin. More than 130 YATA Delegates have participated to two day conference, having the opportunity to meet with delegates coming from all the 39 YATA Chapters, as well as from partners countries and youth associations. Czech Model NATO
Association for International Affairs, partner of YATA will organize its annual NATO model, dedicated to selected Czech High School Students. Model NATO is part of the Prague Student Summit - a prestigious gathering of students where more than four hundred Czech high-school and university students, who are actively interested in international relations, simulate negotiations of three key international organizations: the United Nations, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization and the European Union. NISA 2009 Winter Session - New Warfare and Modern Conflicts
The NISA Winter Session, to be held on January 26-31, 2009 in Baku, Azerbaijan. NISA Winter Session will be rich in program with plenary sessions, working groups, practical site visits, round table and simulation game. Participants will be able to raise critical questions related to themes of the session during the meetings with invited experts and key governmental officials. NATO WEEK IN ARMENIA
This year, in the framework of NATO Week in Armenia, the Armenian Youth Atlantic Association with the financial assistance of the NATO PDD, International Center for Human Development and organizational assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, organized three events: the Second NATO-Armenia Educational Rally, a Town Hall Meeting and anOpen Air Concert.

Young Atlanticist Summit
The Young Atlanticist Summit brought together 120 Young Atlanticists from 38 NATO and Partners countries along with students from the University of Kabul for an empowering experience. They discussed current Alliance priorities and challenges with world leaders, including Secretary General Jaqap de Hoop Scheffer, Afghan President Hamid Karzai, Gerogian President Mikheil Saakashvili, Us President Groge W. Bush and many others. They reached out through videoconference link to the University of Kabul to hear Afghan perspectives on the challenges facing that country. Through a model NATO simulation game, the delegates worked in the midst of a crisis to define the Alliacne position toward energy security. Greek and Macedoninas delegates laid plans for joint activities, and all reached out to support the foundation of a new youth network in Afghanistan.
