The GA 2011 http://www.atlantic-youth.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59:the-ga-2011&catid=41:activities&Itemid=70 http://www.atlantic-youth.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=59:the-ga-2011&catid=41:activities&Itemid=70 As a result of the 2011 YATA Executive Board elections the new Board was formed. Samuel De Paiva Pires was elected as the President of YATA. On other positions - Tornike Metreveli was elected as Executive Vice President (VP hereafter); Tamas Godo - Secretary-General; Antti Talonen - VP for Communication; Anton Grishanov – VP for Public Diplomacy and Sami Zafer Tekat – VP Finance.

There are couple of initiatives at the moment under the consideration in Executive Board for improving the social media plan for the next year. Firstly, we seek fixing the web page problem (improving the admin panel of the web site), as well within the next couple of days, we will try to delegate the communication responsibilities among the EB members in terms of Facebook and Web Administration.

Secondly, we will create a) YATA fan page, that is demonstrably effective form of communication, than the group; b) Each of the EB members was suggested to create a Facebook group for coordinating the issues with their countries of responsibility. To a degree this will create more coherent strategy in terms of communication both between chapters, and between the EB and local chapters. In addition, the EB already sent the requests to YATA members for updating the contact list of local chapters (who's who in EB Member's countries of responsibility); informed the chapters about submission of the Action Plan (the template for local chapter's future plans); and requested the providence of YATA-connected articles and reports for updating our newsletter.

YATA Stands For Norway http://www.atlantic-youth.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58:yata-stands-for-norway&catid=41:activities&Itemid=70 http://www.atlantic-youth.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=58:yata-stands-for-norway&catid=41:activities&Itemid=70 On behalf of the Executive Board of YATA, we want to express our deepest condolence to the Norwegian people after the tragic events taking place within these last couple of days. These two attacks - the one yesterday in Oslo, and another today in Utoeya are in our view the crimes against humanity.

Against this, we stand as one today! Our chapters made peaceful supportive demonstrations all around the YATA world. Thus, we can argue with confidence that today Norway, you are not alone! We, the young leaders, stand united as a one whole. We, the young leaders, today are all under attack by terrorism!

With deepest condolence to the families of the victims of this tragedy particularly and Norwegian nation in general,

Executive Board of YATA

ATLANTICISM IN THE XXI CENTURY http://www.atlantic-youth.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57:atlanticism-in-the-xxi-century-&catid=43:articles&Itemid=78 http://www.atlantic-youth.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=57:atlanticism-in-the-xxi-century-&catid=43:articles&Itemid=78

It is my distinct honor to represent the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association in this historical moment when the Alliance is gathering along the riverside of the Rhine to celebrate its 60th anniversary with new members and a reinforced transatlantic link.
I am proud to be part of a Youth family bringing together the successor generations of forty countries in Europe, Asia and North America around the NATO values fostered by the Atlantic Treaty Association over the last six decades.
A Summit constitutes always a special occasion to reflect on the Alliance's policies and strategic vision. I will not expand on the new threats and wider challenges the Alliance is today called to face.
